YELLOWKNIFEApril 7, 2025—United Way Northwest Territories (UWNWT) is proud to announce the 2025 recipients of our Community Investment Fund (CIF), awarding $205,000 in grants to support local non-profits and community organizations across the NWT.
The 21 funded initiatives this year range across a number of vital community services, from food security and housing to youth programming, cultural wellness, and emergency shelter support. These grants reflect UWNWT’s commitment to strengthening community well-being by focusing on our three priority areas: ‘From Poverty to Possibility,’ ‘Healthy People, Strong Communities,’ and ‘All That Kids Can Be.’
“Every one of these incredible initiatives reflects the strength, care, and resilience that exists across Northern communities,” said Ben Linaker, Chair of United Way NWT’s Board. “We’re proud to support their important work as they create lasting, local impact that meets urgent needs and builds a stronger North for everyone.”
This year’s CIF includes multi-year funding commitments to support sustained programming for several high-impact initiatives, including Bushkids, Homebase Yellowknife, and ongoing support for previous multi-year recipients like the Hamlet of Ulukhaktok, the Hay River Committee for Persons with Disabilities, and the Northern Birthwork Collective.
