Funding Programs

United Way NWT provides essential funding to support a variety of local programs and services throughout the Northwest Territories. With the generosity of our donors, we address critical needs in our community through three primary funding streams:

  • Community Investment Fund (CIF): Supporting NWT Charities with grants of up to $7,500 for individual projects and multi-year grants of up to $15,000 per year, focusing on alleviating poverty, improving health, and supporting youth development. (learn more)
  • Emergency Funding Program (Response): Immediate financial aid during natural disasters, such as wildfires or floods, supporting organizational capacity, direct aid, and addressing emergency gaps. (learn more)
  • Emergency Funding Program (Recovery): Long-term recovery support to rebuild communities and address systemic needs following disasters. (learn more)

For those who wish to direct their gift to a specific Registered NWT Charity or any Registered Canadian Charity, please refer to Canadian Charities Listing for the registered charity number.

Why Give to United Way NWT?
With your financial support, United Way NWT empowers the organized capacity of people in the Northwest Territories to care for one another. We work to address important social issues and build long-term community impact through strong partnerships with local non-profits.

Our focus is on moving people out of poverty, improving access to health and social services, fostering community engagement, and supporting early childhood learning and development.
